Sunday we were at the Venue in Navenby. We have been there a couple of times and do well there. The Venue hall was full along with 20 plus gazebos outside, axe throwing and a Falconry display by Tora's Falconry. If you see these guys advertised at an event near you, go along they are well worth your time. A couple of pictures from their display.

What a hot week its been. This weekend we find ourselves moving into August. The year is flying by!! Saturday we will be in the market place in the historic market town of Spilsby. Just as a matter of interest if you wanted to visit Spilsby the car park alongside the post office sorting building is £2 for all day. Proper value for money. We will be set up in the heat in our gazebo. I think its going to be a hot day. We will have lots of new pictures with us including Highland cows, various aircraft as well as Lincolnshire farming scenes. Sunday we will be returning to the Coronation Hall in Woodhall Spa. Again one of our counties wonderful small towns. Always plenty to see and do here. Various coffee and tea rooms. Woodland walks and several nice pubs. We will be indoors for this one, so fingers crossed a little bit cooler. Feel free to come along and say Hi at either event.
What a hot event at The Old Ship Inn music festival in Pointon. Started of well, various bands started playing in the allotted time slot. To be fair never knowing what you are going to get they were very good. Started to pick up some interest from various people with regards to pet photography sessions, an interesting new avenue. We got to about 3 O clock and it all kicked off. Smoke from what people thought was a bonfire started to blow across the road from behind the petrol station over into the pub area. Maybe someone doesn't like the music I thought. Then cracking and banging followed by 20 foot flames !! This is not a bonfire. Two barns filled with straw well alight. Flames now shooting out of the roofs and thick smoke covering us. Time to pack away quickly to protect stock. Michelle crossed the road towards the fire and knocked on doors as some residents were not aware of the situation. The fire brigade arrived. A single fire engine to start with, as the seriousness of the situation was realised more engines arrived, until we had six! Local farmers were driving up and down the road with tractors pulling water bowsers with them to replenish the fire engines who were trying to fight the fire and also keep it away from the petrol station. The fire brigade stayed on site until late Sunday evening. We went home smelling very much of smoke. At least on the way home we did get some lovely shots of combine harvesters working. One of which is already printed and framed ready to be sold. An eventful weekend !!
Change of scene for us this coming Saturday. A music festival at the Old Ship Inn Pointon. Running from midday until pub closes. I don't think that we will be there all that time, but it will be an interesting experience. Taking a load of new stock with us as well as cameras to capture some of the performances. Fingers crossed that it will be a dry and not baking hot day. If you are nearby, drop in and see us. NG34 0LX
Weekend coming. Only out on Saturday at Farndon village hall. A new venue for us so see how it goes. Well stocked up on frames and mounts. Nowhere to go on Sunday. Possibly a lazy day or up and out with our cameras for a change, we will see!!
The church hall at Alford was interesting. Not a huge footfall but we did ok. Interesting conversations with various people. Sunday at the IBCC. Started off cool but soon heated up. Liquid refreshments was the order of the day. Sold reasonably well and again lots of interesting conversations, one in particular with the drone pilot who was also taking still shots as well. Be interesting to see the drone footage as he was very busy.
Where to this weekend ? Well July is a very busy month for us. Most weekends we are out on both Saturday and Sunday. Make hay whilst the sun shines !! We took delivery yesterday of two new different cards, one of them being a birthday card with a Highland cow picture. Anyway, this weekend. Saturday we are at Alford Church Hall. At least in this heat it should be cool. Sunday we are going to the IBCC at Canwick, what a truly amazing place. So full of history and memories for so many people.
What a weekend. Spilsby Market place on Saturday. Music, live entertainment (which was amazing) A truly happy atmosphere. Congratulations to Elle Marsh and her team. What a fantastic job they all did throughout the day. Good sales and some very interesting conversations with various people. Who would have thought that Highland cows could be so interesting !!
Sunday we arrived at Dunston Village Hall. Its a bit like a Tardis, bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. Everything well set up by Lucy and her husband (sorry didnt get his name). A steady flow of visitors and we had a very good day. Once again some wonderful conversations to do with the Cathedral, Wildlife and Aircraft. Our friends Dale and Wilma from Dutch Cakes and Treats also attended. Very hard to stay away from their display of cakes and cheese!!
This weekend we are travelling to the market place in Spilsby. Such a lovely little market town. Fingers crossed that the wind drops and that the sun stays out though hopefully a little bit cooler. Sunday we will be going to the Dunston village fete. Instead of being near to the cake stall or bacon buttie fryer I believe that we are very close to the pub......... oh dear. We will update later on proceedings. But do look out, we have added extra aircraft to our range and more Highland cows !!
Last weekend, wow! Absolutely roasting in the gazebo at Christ Hospital School. A long day for sure. Lots of liquid refreshment was required. Made some good sales and had a lot of interesting conversations. Onto Corringham Church for Sunday. Please can someone tell me why are we always placed right next to the cake stall or within 10 feet of the bacon buttie fryer ?? Managed to resist on both counts and had a very interesting day. Long conversation with a man who makes sculptures out of spoons, knives and forks, amazing.
Our first proper blog for a while. This weekend we will be at the Christs Hospital School on Wragby road on Saturday, followed by Corringham church hall on Sunday. Both of these venues are new to us so we will see how they go. If you are in the area feel free to drop in and say Hi.
Our on going adventure
Our adventure has slowly grown over the last year. So many fairs and markets that we have attended. Some of them highly successful and to be honest some of them disappointing. We are gradually working out where our best venues are and which images sell better than others. Both of us agreed at the beginning that what we thought might be a good picture did not mean that people would want to buy it. We have been surprised on a number of occasions when people have purchased what "we" thought was an average picture. But that's always personal taste.
The first year of our business is nearly complete. Many many interesting conversations have been had. Requests for a certain picture which we have tried to accommodate. When this new website goes live we will get back to posting a blog at least once a week. This will either to be an update as to what we are doing, or it will be an advert for where we will be at the weekend following.
This year we went away to the Isle of Mull on Scotland's west coast. A long drive, but plenty of stops at motorway services that usually had the Golden Arch symbol on the board at the entrance. Into Oban, a lovely town where we stayed last year. (can highly recommend this as a place to visit) . Raining when we arrived so into the local Tesco store, other stores are available, to stock up as much as possible with food for the week. Onto the Calmac ferry for a 45 minute crossing. Landing at Craignure followed by a 5 minute drive to the Hide at High Oatfield. www.thehideathighoatfield.co.uk Wow, what a place. Like a large log cabin, all self contained with large windows. Looking out over Lochdon to one side, a field of Highland cows to the right. A mountain, ok big hill to the front. We quickly started to see various birds of prey flying past, Buzzards and White tail fish Eagles. Deer that would come into feed and if we sat quietly watching them they would walk pretty much straight past us.
Daylight hours were long. Not getting dark until 11pm and already getting light by 3am. Breakfast was taken on the decking always with a camera very close by. The weather varied as it does in Scotland, but we had some very good days. The other days it was a case of dressing appropriately. The vast majority of the roads on Mull are single track with passing places. So you don't get anywhere fast, which is probably just as well as you would be missing stunning scenery and wildlife. We were privileged to see a wide range of wildlife in its natural habitat. Scenery that was breathtaking. Small towns that were so welcoming, no car park charges during our whole stay on the island. Getting used to the small Spar and Coop shops with a limited range, but hey, its holiday and we made do.
Will we go back again ? Without a shadow of a doubt at some time and will make sure that we also travel to the various nearby islands for an even more varied display of wildlife.
This has been a catch up blog. From now on we will be back to blogging on a regular basis.

We have finally taken the time while we were on holiday in Oban, Scotland, to make our passion our job. A job we love doing and hopefully one day my husband can go fulltime with before he retires, that's our aim!
